New at 20: Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park

By Posted on 5 m read

Twenty years in business is no joke even for a leisure park that needs to have unique offerings, at the same time, abreast with the trendy attractions elsewhere. That’s why when I was invited to check out the latest on Island Cove and Leisure Park in Cavite, I got interested, since it was already more than a decade that I last came to the place for a shoot in my previous work in ABS-CBN.

This is probably one of the key things that make Island Cove and Leisure Park stay in business, is its proximity to Metro Manila. With the express way paving its way all the way to Kawit, it is faster and easier to go the resort. It takes less than an hour drive from Makati to the cove. So whether you’re on a day trip only or a weekend staycation, the Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is conveniently close to the Metro city dwellers.

What’s good about Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is that it has managed to stay relevant to the crowd. Knowing very well its niche, Island Cove has banked on building attractions for families and groups looking for both adventurous and relaxing place as a quick go-to place away from the Metro.

The Island Aviary is 3,500 square meter area with the cove that sports a collection of different birds such as Brahminy Kite, ostrich, and peacock. It also has other animals like  turtles, iguanas, Phil Sailfin lizards, a Burmese python, rabbits, and koi fishes. Entrance fee is at P50 per person. This is a great way to experience wildlife in a more interactive, close, but safe way for the kids and kids at heart.

Go Karts

This I find very cool. After having experienced the gas-type go karts, I never thought that I’d be enjoying pedal-powered go-karts. But to my surprise, I did! When I return to Island Cove, this is one thing that I’d be doing again.

This is a must-try especially for couples or groups. As the go-karts can be driven by both adults and kids. For only Php 100 per 15 mintues, you can roam around the premises.

Horse-Back Riding

Another attraction just close to the Oceania entrance are the horses where you can ride going around the green field. For just Php 50 per 15 minutes, or about 5 laps of brisk pacing of the horse, you can experience riding on a horse’s back safely.

King Crawler

The King Crawler, a vertical urban play structure which combines several functions including different types of climbing opportunities has been made safer for the children with the installation of colorful rubber flooring (EPDM) to minimize the possibility of accidents.

Mermaid Swim Experience

Starting this March, the Oceania Swim and Splash Park is adding the Mermaid Swim Experience. Ocean Conservation Advocate, Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver and Freelance Mermaid Performer, Amarie and her school of fellow mermaids will let you don a tail and learn how to swim like a mermaid. Each session runs for two hours. So you can unleash your inner mermaid fantasies and try it for yourself.

It is advised that you know how to swim and float in water.

Fit Club

And because healthy is the new sexy, Island Cove wants to help with your wellness goals. A body transformation challenge is in the works. To be dubbed as the Fit Club Fitness Journey, it aims to reward those with the biggest weight loss.

Bayside Deck

The Bayside Deck is the latest addition to Island Cove’s inventory of function areas. Overlooking Manila Bay, yet air-conditioned, the 170-seater is perfect for events on sweltering days.

Fishing Village

Probably the favorite of many, the Fishing Village. The view of open water inside a Fishing Village hut is an inviting and calming ambiance in preparation for a good meal.

The Fishing Village expanded its menu to include Kamayan sets good for 6 to 8 persons. The appetizing bundles encourage you to eat with your hands. Here’s a sample of the sumptuous feast: Sizzling Seafood, Sinigang na Bangus, Crispy Pata, Kare-kare, Barbeque Pork Belly, Pancit Bihon, Pritong Hito, Bagoong Rice, Lumpiang Sariwa and Leche Flan. There are three sets to choose from, price ranges from P2,800 to 3,300.

My instant favorites are the Bagoong Rice, Bibingka, Espasol Bacon Barbecue, Pinakbet and Siningang na Lechon sa Miso. Honestly, if I had more time, I’d have more time tasting all from the three sets. LOL

Sangley Point

Sangley Point’s Western cuisine menu has been spiced up with new dishes too. Schedule a food trip and try the Starters Platter, Buffalo Chicken Burger, Linguine al Vongole, Rigatoni al Salmone, and the Madras Style Vegetable Curry.

Aside from the abovementioned, the 36-hectare Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park houses a paintball arena, various playgrounds for children, and a giant chess set. Kalesa, and horses are also available for rent. They have a basketball court, a tennis court, and a 1.4-kilometer jogging path.  If you prefer to stay indoors, you can use the billiard and table tennis tables or go to the game room for the Wii, Playstation 3, and Xbox consoles. Frustrated singers can head to the KTV outlet. For relaxation and stress relief, the Island Spa is recommended. Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park has numerous function pavilions and is capable of catering and organizing events for as many as 14,000 persons.

Hotel guests are free to enter the Oceania and the Aviary. Other activities are billed separately (KTV, Go-Kart, etc.)

Family-friendly and More

Gilbert Remulla, Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park Managing Director, explained how important it is to really cater to the needs and wants of their crowd. More than the structural attractions, the leisure park continues to be motivated to up their game on services and amenities.

“We strive to keep things interesting and exciting for our guests by offering something fresh all the time. We also make sure that our facilities are up-to-date and continue to cater to the changing needs and wants of our market,” explains Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park Managing Director, Gilbert Remulla.

“We are most proud of our ability to be consistent in delivering excellent service. We make an effort to fulfill our mission to satisfy our guests and partners, and go the extra mile to help them,” he continues.

That’s why he was very clear that Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park is welcoming pets of guests. Knowing personally how it feels like having pets as part of the family.

This is probably one of the few “small things” that are important to many guests.
